LOS ANGELES, CA – The Ricardo Lara for Insurance Commissioner Campaign is proud to announce an endorsement from United Farm Workers of America (UFW). They join the California Democratic Party and an extensive coalition of activists, organizations, and Democratic leaders from across the state supporting the Insurance Commissioner’s re-election campaign.
Lara is an unequivocal supporter of Farmworker rights. He is the son of a Fresno farm laborer who spent years doing backbreaking work in the fields to ensure a better life for their family.
“United Farm Workers is proud to endorse Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara for re-election because he stands up for hard-working people, including those who work in the fields that feed America,” said Teresa Romero, UFW President. “Ricardo Lara doesn’t just pay lip-service to our shared values—he lives them every day through his actions and in fighting for fairness for all. We’re so proud to stand strong with this son of an immigrant farmworker. We are proud to support Ricardo Lara for Insurance Commissioner.”
Lara is the first LGBTQ person elected to statewide office ever in California history and the first Latino Insurance Commissioner.
